چکیده

Prolamellar Bodies, Thylakoids, Chlorophylls Etioplast membranes were fractionated into enriched prothylakoid (PT) and prolamellar body fraction (PLB) by known procedures [2]. The photoconversion of Protochlide to Chlide was 77% in the PT fraction but only 65% in the PLB fraction with optimum NADPH concentrations. The subsequent esterification reaction proceeds in both fractions indicating that the enzyme chlorophyll synthetase is present in both fractions. In the PLB fraction, 10-15% more Chip is formed than in the PT fraction. It is concluded that the concentration of the endogenous phytol precursor is higher in the membranes still present in the PLB fraction than in the PT fraction.

Red Light Induced Change in the Saponin Content of Prolamellar Bodies in A vena sativa

Etioplast, Protochlorophyllide, Prolamellar Body, Saponin, Red Light Exposure to red light of high intensities leads to saponin and prolamellar body degradation in etiolated Avena sativa seedlings. Exposure to red light of low intensities increases the saponin percentage found in prolamellar bodies without changing the overall saponin content. Proto chlorophyllide is assumed to act a decisive ...

A Comparison between Prolamellar Bodies and Prothylakoid Membranes of Etioplasts of Dark-Grown Wheat Concerning Lipid and Polypeptide Composition.

The aim of the present investigation was to find factors critical for the co-existence of prolamellar bodies and prothylakoids in etioplasts of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv Starke II). The lipid composition of the prolamellar body and prothylakoid fractions was qualitatively similar. However, the molar ratio of monogalactosyl diacylglycerol to digalactosyl diacylglycerol was higher in the pro...

The Determination o f Prolamellar Bodies and Saponins in Etioplasts and Leaves o f A vena sativa L

Etioplasts, Prolamellar Bodies, Saponins, Chromatography Prolamellar body tubules in etioplasts are composed mainly of two saponins. The determination of these saponins in leaves, etioplasts or subfractions of etioplasts is re commended to evaluate the concentration of these tubules in a given fraction. Using a densitometer after TLC-separation of the saponins measurements are carried out in a...

Digitonin Precipitable Sterols Inducing the Aggregation of Prolamellar Body-Like Structures from Completely Dissolved PLB Components

Prolamellar Body, Reaggregation, Sterols Completely dissolved lipids of a prolamellar body/primary thylakoid (PLB/PT) fraction from etiolated Avena sativa plastids were reaggregated in vitro. The analysis of the originating tubular structures showed a qualitative identity in their lipid content with that of the native PLB/PT fraction. Reaggregation experiments also showed that not all lipids co...

The effect of adenosine 5'-triphosphate on the shibata shift and on associated structural changes in the conformation of the prolamellar body in isolated maize etioplasts.

Isolated maize (Zea mays var. kelvedon glory) etioplasts have been used to investigate the relationships between the spectral shifts and ultrastructural changes which occur during light-induced chloroplast development. After primary photoconversion, the Shibata shift was observed as a change from 680 to 670 nm in the chlorophyllide absorption maximum. When 1.5 nm ATP was added to the incubation...
